MEET THE TEAM

EDWARD BENTON
After a career In the British Army I wanted to find a job that would offer me a similar adrenaline rush and I wanted to be working outside.
After visiting my parents my father suggested that I look at becoming a tree surgeon as they had just had a company in to work on their trees and this may suit me.
When I started my career in Arboriculture I had a fantastic tutor who inspired me to look at the science of trees and to better understand why and how we maintain trees, and this sparked my love of tree work

SANDRA WOOD
I've always been an admin person and i've finally found a role where I can marry my love of the outdoors with my admin skills.
My favourite tree is the yellow crab apple on my allotment - covered in pink and white blossom in early spring, and then the tiny yellow crab apples shine beautifully in the autumn.

VIKKI-ANNE POLLARD
Living where I do I have an absolute love of nature and the outdoors. I recently completed my Masters degree in criminology and found that we didn’t cover any aspect of environmental crime so decided to write my dissertation on
“ Prevent, legislate or Criminalise?
Exploring the role of society, politics and legislation in dealing with environmentally harmful practices.”
Working here in the office at Golden Tree Surgeons allows me to fully appreciate the working relationship between conservation and the local area.
My favourite tree is a weeping willow, they look so beautiful along the local riverbanks.

AARON
I got into tree working after someone told me lots of facts about different trees and it piqued my interest so much that I did my level 2 diploma and never looked back.
My favourite tree is Ginko Biloba; it's the only genus in its species and was around when the dinosaurs were on the planet

TOM
My interest for arboriculture and silviculture started when I did a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Countryside Management at college.
This interest carried through whilst studying a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Wildlife Ecology & Conservation.
After graduating this year, I’m now pursuing Tree Surgery to gain further practical experience.
Scots Pine (Pinus sylvestris) is my favourite tree as this Caledonian Pinewood Pioneer is the most widely distributed pine species in the world!

CASEY
I have always enjoyed being outdoors and in the woodlands however began to love them even more as I grew up.
I am now in my second year at college studying for my extended advanced diploma in arboriculture and forestry level 3 as well as working with an amazing team and cannot wait to see what the future holds.
My favourite tree is a beech tree (Fagus sylvatica) as they are beautiful and strong trees.

ROB
I was drawn to the industry due to my love of the outdoors lifestyle. I never fancied the perpetual office job and it was a natural life choice after my previous career.
My favourite tree would be Oak, as I have fond memories of these trees in Richmond Park as a child.

EDUARDO
Eduardo has always been so close to the forest thanks to his grandfather and when he had the chance, he started to study all about it.
He gained his senior technician in forestry environment qualification in his home country of Spain back in 1999 and started to work as a forest fire fighter in the summer, creating firebreaks and other tree works during the winter, always trying to improve his knowledge.
He tells us his favourite tree species is the silver birch, as it is one of the most beautiful.

MATT
I was into woodland management first as part of countryside management diploma. I unfortunately lost the love for game keeping and was out of work.
A close friend then asked if I was interested in doing tree powerline clearance which got me interested in doing tree work correctly and I’ve been climbing ever since.
My favourite tree is oak as they were used to build old naval ships.

MAT
Raised in the Norfolk countryside I was surrounded by nature from a young age and spent much of my childhood playing in various woodlands.
I climbed trees as soon as I could reach the lowest branch. As a teenager I saw Tree Surgeons swinging around in trees and thought; I can do that for a living!... I never looked back.
My favourite tree species is Birch. Waterproof and Flammable! Birch bark contains a layer of betulin.
This chemical gives the tree its distinctive white colour which protects it from rapid temperature changes, it is also hydrophobic which makes it ideal for lighting campfires in bad weather
TESTIMONIALS
If you're looking for a professional service with friendly helpful people look no further.
I am absolutely overwhelmed with the guys at Golden Tree.
They came today to take down 34 trees, which were at least 50ft high. They completed the job in less than a full day.
They cleared up everything and went above and beyond by taking some smaller trees that I had cut down myself away. I really recommend this company to anyone who needs an expert, you will be extremely happy with their service
