Trees in Planning and Developments

From large scale developments such as new roads or domestic extensions, planning applications often require a tree survey.

This usually takes the form of an Arboricultural Impact Assessment (AIA) in accordance with BS5837:2012. The principle is to identify how trees can be retained during development works and show which trees may need to be removed.

Jonathan Bundock is a highly experienced consultant who works with developers, architects, builders and councils to navigate a successful path through the planning system.

Local Planning Authorities require a Tree Constraints Plan and Tree Protection Plan along with an Arboricultural Method Statement. We provide all of these and use the latest AutoCAD software and accurate GPS devices to show the position of trees on architects' drawings including some of the most complex engineering schemes.

We can also provide preliminary advice and pre-application consultation.

Tree Condition and Safety Surveys

Trees can become unsafe and our consultant is highly experienced at evaluating these risks. We carry out surveys for tree owners including; local authorities, home owners, schools and private estates.

With a range of equipment available to us, we can give clear advice on the condition of trees and identify weaknesses or hazards and issue a report which gives the client the precise location of trees, a description of any defects and advice on any remedial works necessary to improve the condition of the tree.

Tree owners have a duty of care to ensure that their trees do not pose an unacceptable risk and our surveys will meet those requirements. We carry full professional indemnity insurance and public health insurance to indemnify our decision making surrounding the safety of trees.
